Happy Independence Day!
This is one of my very favorite holidays. Our family has a very fun tradition of going to watch a Salt Lake Bees baseball game every 4th of July, and then staying to watch an incredible fireworks show afterwards. We've done this almost every year since we got married, and it's something that I look forward to with great anticipation.
This year our tickets for the game are hanging on the fridge, and we are sitting here wondering if we will get to use them or not. "Buddah" has been sick with a stomach bug since yesterday, and is still feeling pretty yucky. We keep thinking maybe he'll feel better by the time we would need to leave, but so far it's not looking too promising.
I feel so bad for him. When you're a kid, being sick is bad enough. Add to that missing a fun family activity, and he is basically crushed. If we don't make it to the game tonight, we'll have to come up with some great thing to do together when he's feeling better.
Anyway, I hope you all have a great holiday, and also take the time to remember why we celebrate this day. I feel so blessed to live in this country, and I am indebted to all those who have made this country an incredible place to live.
UPDATE: No baseball game for us tonight. Poor "Buddah". Hopefully we'll be able to see the game on Pioneer Day (July 24th) because they have fireworks that night too.
