My Secret Passion

No, it's not James Marsters....that's not a secret! ;)

For a long time now, I have been obsessed with photography. I will scour the internet looking for interesting pictures, I love trying to take great pictures, and I get terribly irritated when a picture that I am sure if going to be wonderful, turns out bad.

There is a blog that I read quite often (mostly for the photography, but she's also a really cute LDS mom). It is Sunshine In My Soul. I absolutely adore her pictures. Her talent amazes me. When I found out she was considering teaching a photography seminar, I wished so badly that I lived in Mesa so that I could attend.

Then she posted that she would in fact be holding a seminar in Mesa, as well as one in Salt Lake City! My heart leaped with anticipation and I quickly clicked the link to take me to the seminar information page. You can imagine my disappointment when I saw that the price for the 11 hour workshop is $325. Oh, the sadness.

So now I am back to trying to learn things on my own. I have found some free photography lessons online at MorgueFile and I am hoping that I will be able to pick up some good tips there. The first lesson is on close-ups/abstracts and also on taking pictures of one subject from several different angles. So, I'm going to post some that I tried. Let me know what you think!

Until next time... Jami

Ok...her pictures are really beautiful. Do her kids really have that eye color naturally, or do you think she tweaks it a little. Seriously, I've never seen anyone with teal eyes before!

I wonder what kind of camera she uses...the pictures come out amazing!

Ya, I don't know what kind of camera she has, but I do know from reading her blog and seeing pictures of her home, that she has got to be LOADED! So it's probably a really nice camera, whatever it is.

I don't know about her kids' eyes, but I think they are at least pretty close to that color. Her kids are gorgeous, and she always seems to have them in such cute clothes and their hair is always perfect. Whenever I take pictures, my kids just look like the little rugrats that they are.....and I LOVE 'em!!!!

Woah, her pictures are amazing. I saw a post on the pinchingyourpennies website about a photography seminar...it's the same one! Her sister posted about the seminar. Pricy. This gal suggested getting a Canon Rebel XTI. (someone asked how to get a DSLR w/o the expense). She said they are now around $600. Yikes! That's steep. She said that's what she has, but she's looking to upgrade.
