My son has a little friend whom we'll call Sherlock. The reason for calling him Sherlock is because I don't want to use his real name which is Watson. Oh, woops! Oh well, we'll call him Sherlock for fun, anyway!
So, Sherlock comes over to our house every other Monday after preschool to play, and my son goes to his house the other Mondays. Now, this boy and his family live in a fairly nice house, nothing spectacular, but nice enough. We also live in a nice house, also nothing spectacular, but it was built just before we moved in about 18 months ago, and we love it. Anyway, the other day when Sherlock's mom came to pick him up, she brought her older son (about 10 years old) with her. We were talking together a bit while the kids played awhile longer, and this is what she said to me:
"When we pulled into your subdivision, my son said 'Wow, they live in a nice neighborhood'. I told him, 'Oh Honey, stucco and rock make anything look good'."
I couldn't believe how rude she was! Not only was it just plain rude to say at all, but did she have to relay the conversation to me?
I really felt like saying back to her, "Oh, you mean stucco and rock are to our house, as your makeup is to your face!"
