In a recent episode of The Bachelor in Paris (actually the only episode that I've watched), one disgruntled bachelorette was mouthing off about the bachelor because he wasn't ready for the "reproductive" phase of life and she was. This INSANE woman then stated something like "what other reason is there to get married then to have children?"
WHAT!? Now for all I know, this woman might have been putting on an act just to get more t.v. time or something, but it made me think. Are there really people out there who believe that the only reason to marry is to have children?
My children are more precious to me than I could ever explain with mere words. The thought of never knowing them and enjoying everything about them makes me hurt. But to think that the only reason I married my husband is to create these beautiful kids is just crazy!
I married Strude because I fell in love with him. But through the years of marriage, there are a million other reasons.... He loves me. He loves our children. He treats me with an enormous amount of respect. He lets me have my own way. He makes me feel important. He makes me laugh. He teaches me. He listens. I know that we were meant for each other. He protects me. I could watch him sleep for hours. He gives great massages. He doesn't care about my flaws. He tells me I am perfect. He watches cheesy movies with me. He appreciates when I watch his movies with him. My life would not be complete without him. He challenges me. I am a better person for knowing him.
I could go on forever, but the most significant reason is that he is my very best friend.
